Dr. Sumit Dave appointed Chair, Postgraduate Surgical Education Committee

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sumit Dave to the role of Chair, Postgraduate Surgical Education Committee, effective January 1, 2022; succeeding Dr. Adam Power who capably has led the Committee since 2019.

Dr. Dave completed Medical school at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Pondicherry, India. After completing Pediatric Surgery residency from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi he moved to Sydney, Australia to complete a Fellowship in Pediatric General Surgery at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, University of New South Wales. Further training in Pediatric Urology brought him to The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto to complete a Pediatric Urology fellowship. He has a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology from Western University and has completed the Faculty Scholar’s Program at IC/ES Western. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Pediatrics and the Program Director for the Urology residency program at Western University. He is a member of the Western PGME Policy Committee and the CBME Steering Committee.

Dr. Dave has received various awards for his achievements in education and research, and has several contributions to the pediatric urology literature in numerous peer-reviewed journals. His primary areas of clinical and research interest include surgical management of neurogenic bladder, vesicoureteric reflux and robot-assisted reconstructive pediatric urology. He was instrumental in establishing the first and only pediatric robotic program in Canada at the London Health Sciences Centre in 2014.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Dave on his appointment to this key leadership role in the Department of Surgery, and in thanking Dr. Power for his contributions to the academic success of this Department.
